A day that shall live in infamy....

I've been to the Arizona memorial twice, Gave me chills both times, RIP to these brave souls. I will always have the greatest amount of respect and pride for the bravest, most resourceful generation of our times.
As have I. I spent many a time on Ohau and at Hickam/Pearl in my USAF travels, and visited the many historical points and places involved on that day. Both my parents were serving and working for the USAAF during the War, with Pops in uniform, and Mom as a civilian in a command secretarial pool and the Aviation Cadet Center, San Antonio, TX. The tears of the Arizona Battleship, still to this day, cry and weep for the lost ones from that fateful day, 84 years ago. May they all RIP, and we must Never Forget...cr8crshr/Bill:praying::praying::praying::usflag::usflag::usflag:

84 years ago & many of today's younger generations know nothing about it.
84 years is longer away from the younger generation than yours , also the younger generation doesn’t get history taught to them. It’s the older generations responsibility to educate the younger generations. I hope you’re doing your part to help educate instead of just bitching about what they don’t know

With that out of the way , what was just another beautiful Sunday turned into a day that lives in infamy. RIP to those that were lost the day that started the loss of so many young men in the years to come

:popcorn2: politics is how we entered that war pretty much its how all wars are started. that will never change, and the common man pays the price. But the thread is about honoring those who died December 7th 1941. Remember.

you should read RC's post with the link, if you haven't. I was somewhat familiar with it but it did shed some light on some details I was unaware of, Thanks Mark.

Been to the Arizona, Pearl Harbor & Hickman Air Base,
memorial like 10 or so times, most every time I went to the Pro-bowl
when it was still in Honolulu
always seemed to be the right thing to do, very sad & moving when there

My Granddad, was a Navy officer in WWII, went in as 1st Lt. (IIRC)
he was stationed in the Pacific theater, some lil' island for like 8 months
then SF/Oakland, Alemeda Ship yards area, later for repairs, to their ship
(he was from Berkeley area, so close to home)
& later US Coast Guard (Capt.) for reserves after his Navy stint...

I had read up on it a long while ago, but you can read it here….

& FDR failed horribly, having ordered the ships in Pearl & the planes in Hickman
to be all docked/stored (parked planes) so close together, ripe for destruction
easy bombing targets, well known failure (most never talk about)
the generals didn't want to do it allegedly, but complied to the CIC/POTUS orders

(FDR was an old Navy man too, he should've knew better, like he set US up to be attacked)
