Yes Steve Barr I knew that his daughter Rebecca went to ECU in the early 90's. She lived at Wilson Acres Apartments for while and I was dating the apartment manager at the time. They brought her furniture back and forth in a Petty Enterprises truck. He was so busy signing we didn't have time to chat. All he said has something like you've got an oldy goldy there...
I'm jealous of you guys meeting the King. I sat across from his pit in the 1970 Firecracker 400, the 1st NASCAR race I ever went to. I'd like to meet him someday, I have a funny story I'd like to tell him about Kyle... Back in the 80's, I think, I was cruising down a street in a nearby midsouth city early one morn to get some spark plugs for my truck. I noticed a Cheif Auto Parts store with one of Kyle's race cars out front for customers to look at. I pulled in got my plugs then walked over to the race car. I thought I was the only person in the store or parking lot till I noticed a guy standing near the car. As I got closer I saw that it was Kyle. I said Hi Kyle, shook hands and asked What are you doing here? He said he was there meeting all his fans. We both looked around the empty lot and started laughing. He said- Guess I don't have many fans here! We talked race cars for about an hour after that, he is a great guy just like his Dad.
