A few pictures from my trip to Oregon...

I went to Portland Oregon last week with the Wife. She wanted to attend a book signing event to meet a few authors that she likes. Since this was in Portland, we made a trip to Wildcat Auto Wrecking in nearby Sandy.
First up, letting someone else pump my gas is friggin weird. Holy crap...I do most everything for myself and have since I was out of school. It felt strange letting someone else do something so simple for me.
The people at Wildcat were great. They let the Wife and I walk the yard. I took these pictures:
66 Valiant. I have only seen a few of these in my lifetime. This was a project car with no price on it.

I had a 65 Valiant. 273 Auto, should have kept it!!

I wonder if the 60s B body platform had as many year to year changes as the A platform did.
The push button auto transmission shifter went away in 65. That year they had the 2 cables to a column shifter or a console. In 66 the slip yoke output shaft came along and the cable shift gave way to the mechanical linkage. Each year had a different bumper, different trim, gauge layout, etc.

The wife and I are escaping LA in a little while and she wants to move to the Portland area(not IN Portland, mind you, but in the country nearby). We have some good friends there so we're up there 6 or 7 times a year. It seems nice up there but the gas thing really freaks me out.
I went to that mopar race at woodburn recently and spoke with some friends about that. I guess the trick is to find a gas station willing to bend the rules a bit? I've never had any of my old cars up there but it seems like some of these gas station attendants would have trouble finding the gas cap!
Very strange law. Last time I drove my truck up there I put my debit card in the gas pump and a kid ran up telling me that I was breaking the law! Evidently you're not allowed to pay for it yourself, either!

One of my Altadena friends is talking about doing the same.

Try riding up on your Dirt Bike in Oregon.. Please give me the Nozzle before you kill me!!

I would love to be in the Eugene area..

The three time I got gas there the attendants all said that the law was tot strictly enforced. They said most people just comply and with those that insist on pumping themselves, they just let the customer do their thing.

Thanks Kern Dog. That's what my buddies up there were referring to, I think. Find the cool, old car friendly station, I guess. I bet it's even more lax further away from the city.
