Had this one last night, contacted me and gave me a name and email for a guy in Pennsylvania that sells parts, clicked on it today and it said the conversation had been deleted.

I just posted a "WTB" and within two hours two brand new members joined and showed up with great deals! A quick online image search shows the pictures they have of their parts cars are from the first page of Google images and for some reason South Florida has 3 feet of snow and blue license plates.

good thing you havent bothered to report any of them on either site.

We do what we can to protect FBBO members, but in instances like this we cannot do a lot without your help. If you get a PM from someone like described above, let a staff member know right away and we will look into the member.

First, why don’t these scum-sucks find an available job with available higher wages to earn their friggin money? 2nd, someday it’d be nice if a cyber-shock wave could be sent to them nuking their computers when they try to pull **** like this. Aside from other ideas..

One from here is gone. I did NOT report him, I like for these to get a little further developed and rope them in a bit. And sometimes they seem hokey and are NOT scams, odd people but NOT scams., But these were. You have to let them hang themselves a bit, and even then, all you can do is shut them down. Look at the country in general. You can loot a store, burn a Wendys and not go to jail. So there really is no deterrent for these creeps not to. I had a BIZARRE experience selling a harley on Craigslist and it had just about every single scam red flag there is and he was legit. But.... and BUT. They almost never are.

Take a peek at FMJ also. One of your guys nabbed that one. Or was it this site? I am on several looking for a few parts, and the scammers pounce instantly. I have to look back . It was like Jamie or something. I swear, they guy registered as soon as I posted I needed something. He had a parts car covered in snow in Miami which shows up in Google images

I think I got had last week as one of 'the members' here sent me a pm stating he knew a guy who had some parts, etc etc, gave me his email address on a pm. So...I contatcted this fella who had the part (big surprise here)! All was good $100 but not PP, ZELL (another form of internet payment). Paid, emailed him a screenshot as requested, etc. Came back here to find that PM and it's mysteriously vanished, like I never got one! did I check the senders credits or likes/knowns/etc? NO, I did not so he could have been a new member and disappeared, I couldn't find a trace! Over a week later and a couple of emails to 'the seller' and presto, nothing! Smells like I got ripped for a C-note! BEWARE of the different scammer tactics!!! I'm pretty careful about all the crap that floats around and have done hundreds of buying and selling on-line transactions but it only takes one scammer to open your eyes to new tricks!

I'd see if admin could be of help.

If you get a private message or see a post that doesn't look right just report it and let the staff handle it.

Member since 2009 and zero reaction score plus a zero message count...... equals a bad omen for any exchange.

There are signs that can help, but members need to be aware enough to not get sucked in. Easy to say, but when I look at what the scammers are doing, there is nearly always a 'tell' in there somewhere. Whether it be as above with zero counts, a weird userID, or just signed up magically that day.

As far as Admin being able to help @Ron H , yes, they are helping by pointing out to be careful, and you can see examples of the scammer activity here anyway.

Making people aware of the dirty pool the scum of the Earth play is a big part of helping you guys.

Remember, if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is not a good idea to get involved.

It’s sad when hearing of people getting scammed, some losing all the cash they had, notably the elderly who aren’t thinking straight or no longer can.

Had a wealthy aunt being left a couple million from my uncle, real estate biz owner, who drowned in Hawaii on a vacation. They didn’t have kids. She was a basket case wholly reliant on my uncle. Few years later she moved to Las Vegas. My other uncle and his daughters kept in touch with her visiting on occasion noting that she kept moving to less expensive housing and eventually a trailer house. She’d never say what was going on and didn’t seem as though she was gambling. Then as they kept trying to call her getting no answer, they contacted the police to go check on her. She was found dead, and had been for weeks, pretty gruesome, but no foul play was detected. We guessed it might have been a guy she got friendly with taking her money or maybe she did spend it at the casino’s. A mystery; but she had just a couple grand left to her name; most a that went to bury her. Weird as they sealed her in a tube placing it in her casket. Being a pall-bearer, the casket was friggin heavy for six of us to handle it.
