Ok,

I have a 1966 Charger,

It has a 71 440, and had a 71 4 speed

I sold the 4 speed thinking a company i paid for a replacement Transmission would ... like actually deliver on the purchase. So anyways I sold the trans before i got the new and now have none. Now im looking to get my car back on the road.

I found a rather pricey but very nice oem low mileage 4 speed. Its out of a 68 B body, im wanting to use my driveshaft and ideally my cross member. its the same 18 spline setup. Is there anything else i should be wary of? Should my bellhousing that i know fits my motor have an issue with this trans?

You will need a 66 to 69 four speed crossmember. The 71 trans would have used an automatic crossmember. Brewer's performance has them.

Make sure the front bearing retainer is the right diameter to fit your bell housing. Some early ones were a smaller O.D. if I remember correctly...

you can change retainers
sorry abou your matching number trans
who did not deliver?

It wasn’t brewers, I’m not too worried about the matched combo, it was a 383 23 spline charger from the factory. It’s still a manual and I think that’s the real win

The retainer size is the deal. You cant just change a 'large 308' bearing retainer to fit a small retainer 66 and 67 bellhousing. There are plenty of 'small' bearing cases that can be changed to match your bellhousing. Guts are all the same.
