Was doing some light reading and came across this article:
http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engine/hrdp_1106_turbocharged_hemi_engine/viewall.html

And was blown away by the inexpensive crazy *** horsepower that can be created with relatively little effort. I am seriously considering adding a turbo but not to the Coronet, but to my Ram. It should increase engine efficiency and potentially even provide me with some highway mileage gains. not to mention I would be able to forget about the trailer when its back there...

Anybody have any experience turboing a G3?

Where do you pick up the oil supply for the turbo, one of the ports by the oil filter?

This looks quite doable and I added up from their cost table, its only a shade over 2k

Sounds cool. I think the worst part is plumbing all the exhaust and intake tubes.

I have a 01 dakota with a 4.7 and if you can find. Aftermarket go fast products good luck. There more now then there was back in 01. But I wanted to make more power could not a thing for it that was for a dakotA.

So I was working at a dodge dealer at the time and there was only one option I had from mopa proformance and that was a HO cam swap. Not enough power gain to justify the cost. So I went turbo search everywhere to see what people where doin for turbos. Did not find anything so I decided I wanna use my truck as a test. So got 2 warranty claim turbos one for the neon srt4 and the other was for a 24 vavle Cummings diesel. I had to fab all my own tubing and plumbing that's a night mare. But anyway I did it to my dakota with a home fab kit and recalibrated my computer thur MDS2 and DRB3. And it work I did keep the boost low around 6-8 psi if I remember right. I installed it with less than 20k miles. And the turbo last over 130k miles before it crap out. I made a huge differance in power and increase fuel mileage a tiny little bit maybe or it stayed the same but I had to added at least 50 horse power. It was great so I would say if you can do it. DO it it's worth it I plan on adding a turbo to my b-body hemi swap this time Ive learned how and what not to do. And I want try a twin turbo cause I like the sound but will settle for one if it does not work out.

I did that HO cam swap to my 4.7 in my 02 Dakota. It made a decent difference but not enough to make it worth a whole lot. But I had to pull the heads anyway because of a head gasket leak. Worse job I ever did on an engine. Took me an entire weekend and had to make my own wedges to hold the timing chains in place. But in the end the truck ran like a raped ape...probably not as well as your turbo'd truck. I also never tuned it but sold it before I got an SCT tuner.

I hope to eventually do the turbo to the Ram and back it up with a good tune. I think it should make a pretty good difference in power while helping fuel economy. Not in need of a ton of power, the truck runs great as is, but the fuel economy is what I am after and for the price this is about the best route that I can figure out. But it will be quite a while before I can divert funding from the Coronet.

I read an article in Mopar Now where they turboed one and got 1127hp with a bad ring. It was an 08 down 5.7 with ported heads, 6.1 intake, cam, srt exhaust manifolds, 6.1 oil pump and a 76 mm turbo on 110 octane. 17 psi
Stock short block except for the ring gaps which had been opened up.
Peaked my interest

Thats just plain insane.... These engines have so much potential its just amazing. Still thinking that eventually I may do this to the Ram...though I am also contemplating trading it for a new Eco-Diesel which should get nearly 30 mpg hwy....won't be a rocket ship but thats what the Coronet is for right?
