I am in need of replacing the oil pan on my 1962 Plymouth that runs a modified 440 (stock stroke). I developed a "little hole" in it yesterday....:angryfire:
The pan that has been on it is one of the Milodon 9" deep rear sump pans that holds 10 gts of oil with the dual line pickup and has the tunnel for the steering link to go through. The motor placement is at least close to stock since the steering link fits into the existing pan tunnel.

I need a pan that is not as deep and looking for recommendations. The oil pump is one of the Milodon hi flow units. My motor makes 650-700hp and will occasionally see some strip time but mostly street crusing and messing around. Can I get away with a single pickup and plug off one of the lines? What other dual pickup pans are out there that can give me significantly more ground clearance? Thoughts? :DMAGE:

This is the Moroso 7 qt pan and it fits fine on my 63 with no mods at all and it has the original K-frame. Has plenty of room as I have been driving it on the street for 5 years with no mishaps. Ron

I got mine from 440 soruce its a 7qt.pan and was under 100 bucks.its a nice pan (gold anadized)been on car for 3yr. with no trouble.............Artie

Not sure but I suspect there is little if any difference in the K member section 62 to 63'.
Do you have the model number of the Moroso pan - is it the one with the rebated back side of the sump?
Artie, what year car is your 440Source pan on?

I too put a 440 source pan on my '63 Dodge. I did have to grind the K-frame slightly on the passenger side front of the pan for clearance.

Are those 440 Source pans using an internal pickup or external? I looked on the website but could not tell.

Thought they might be. Apparently the Moroso is internal too. I am all plumbed up for external. I have a Milodon dual pickup external pump - had the pan too but I poked a hole in the darn thing the other day. I had a 9" deep sump and I guess it was just a matter of time before it got poked. I am going to get a more shallow pan this time around.

Yes my Moroso pan is internal. Ron

Call Charlies Oil Pans. He custome makes them to what ever demension you want. The guy is an artist, and great service. He gave me a date it would be done and it was setting on the door step the day he said it was to be done.
He built us a 9qt pan that is only like 6.5" deep because the Milidon pan was way too close to the ground.

Here is is web site.

I went ahead and bought a 7 qt Milodon pan with a 7" center sump. It took two inches off the bottom from the other one. Required just a bit of notching to the K member on the passenger side - plenty of room on the drivers side. While that old Milodon 9" pan was too deep it was also compounded by running the /6 torsion bars.
