Hey guys, on my 69 rr as soon as you turn the key on the compressor turns on. now matter what I do with the controls it stays running. I am waiting for my service manual to show up but figured I'd give a shout out in the mean time to see if anybody else has had this happen. I don't know if the previous owner had it hooked up right or not. Thanks

I'm not sure how they are wired exactly but I would think there is a stuck relay or a wire might have shorted / melted to a hot wire... You can Google the diagram though...

Sounds like the low line pressure switch. Disconnect the leads and check it with an ohmeter. If it's closed then the switch is n.g.

The low pressure switch does not turn off or on the system. Its only purpose is to protect the pump if there is not enough pressure in the system for proper operation.
The current to operate the AC unit is a combination of AC/Heater and fan switch if correctly wired.

If you remove power and it does not stop it could be the clutch welded it self

If you have a leak(low freon) the pressure switch will not turn on the compressor. Jump it with leads and the compressor turns on. If the switch stays closed and not working on pressure, then the switch is junk!

Gee that is what i thought i had said. But thanks for the additional input.

O.K. here is your theory of operation:
Key switch to on. Key on goes to certain circuits including the A/C heater control. When the A/C selector is activated on one side of the low pressure switch you will have power. Check that. If you have it good. Switch the selector to off and you will not. If you still have it your selector switch is not shutting off. Sounds like your heater control. You have good pressure in the low pressure switch that will keep power to the compressor when one side of the switch is activated. Which has everything to do to turn on the compressor. If the clutch is stuck to test simply turn the outer ring by hand to turn freely. Just trying to help. Didn't want to get in a pissing match. Having problem with my GTX A/C too!

This is for a 68-69 charger I can't imagine it would be much different than a roadrunner.
