Air filter assembly for velocity stacks?

Searched all the usual online speed shops, unable to find these. I need a pair of 8 1/2" diameter air filter assemblies to mount on top of the velocity stacks. Any sources out there? No I don't want to spend $300 for K&N stuff.

What about finding some large-hole grate like a criss-cross BBQ pit or something. You can buy foam filter at most auto parts stores that goes inside those flat, triangular Edelbrock air cleaners. Sandwich that foam in between two pieces of the grate, use a slightly longer air cleaner stud & done. FYI-that foam melts with a single carb "cough", so maybe buy an extra piece.

Yes, foam and backfires don't do well together!
