Does anyone know if a dual quad air grabber-air cleaner from a Hemi will fit a 440? If not, are there any options out there for a 440 with dual quads and the AG hood?

the hemi air cleaner won't fit an edelbrock ch28 carb spacing. not sure about the factory iron or offenhauser spacing. the hemi base is made for the smaller 4 7/16" air horn carbs vs the newer 5 1/8" carbs.

get out the fiberglass, I seen a gtx with a 2x4 440, they custom made a base with fiber glass, I spoke with them about the process, I asked why not just use the metal base and weld in pieces for the carbs, they told me that was their first thought but couldnt get it to work out correctly, after hours of trying and mocking up card board they just made one out of fiber glass, it looked good...

Yeah, I have read some posts on the Moparts forum talking about using fiberglass, I may give that a try. Thanks...

you know, I looked for 2 hours for the pictures of that intake the other day and can not find it, if you can find someone to let you borrow a base and mark up a template (if you were closer I have a couple bases, but ohio is a long ride). Fiber glass is about the easiest thing to work with, especially with the tigers hair products ever coat sells, that stuff is amazing, I would cut a cardboard templete, cut out all of your fiber glass matting in the shapes it has to be, I would do 2 layers, lay one layer down, then make a wire support frame, I make a circle around the 2 carb openings and then a large oval around the perimeter, then just connect them, I have a tig so I would tig it all up, but you could just braze them with a torch and rod.
Then lay down the first sheet, resin, lay down the wire and cover it with the 2nd layer of fiber glass, resin, and mold it all together... Evercoat has some amazing stuff, I made a windshield for my old ski boat, I didnt need to see through it just something to buffer the wind over the driver so it didnt blow your glasses off, I make it out of fiberglass with a couple kevlar strips, it never broke and there were plenty of drunk people falling on it and pushing on it over the years...

anyway, good luck, and take pics :)

I have been doing lots of research and I have come up with a few different avenues to pursue. The first is I can buy and altered Hemi air cleaner from Shakerhood.com but that will cost me about a grand. There is a guy in Florida that claims he has a fiberglass base that will fit for about 250. Then there is making one myself and I'm giving that some serious thought. The money really isn't an issue, I want something that looks factory.

BTW Seventy, I saw the pics you are talking about and it did look excellent but I can't find them now either!

The hemi base will not fit the older style 413 intake either. It's close but no cigar.

And the dual air cleaners used on the early Carter WCFB won't fit, either, because the opening on the carb is smaller.
