I got you on this one 429.....if I understand you correctly. By "flapper" I think you're talking about the under-the-hood vent flap that opens when the air grabber scoop is closed, correct? I will try to describe this since I don't have a picture handy. I'm going from memory here, so I may be off a little bit.

1. The "flapper" is attached to a 15" or so metal rod by some little rolled pins if I recall correctly. It extends on the passenger side a little further to attach to the open/close diaphragm.

2. One the ends of that same metal rod (part of the rod itself) are two curved, almost "boomerang" shaped pieces, about 3" long with a hole in the end. Those holes line up with holes in the air grabber scoop, in the "shark teeth mouth" of the air grabber stickers.
3. A special metal pin goes through the "boomerang" arm hole & the hole in the air grabber scoop to connect them. It is held in place with a c-clip. You can see the holes in the scoop in this pic where the special pins go.

You can see the special pins & c-clips in this picture (above), bottom right, just left of the scoop. The picture below shows just the "flapper", the metal rod & the attachment hardware.
