First off wanted to say thanks to everyone on here who's helped me along the way. It's still got a ways to go and a few bugs but it shouldn't be long. Anyways, today we finally got to hear what this engine sounds like after staring at it sitting in the crate for 4 years...even if it only runs for a second.
We couldn't get it to stay running and we thought it just hadn't got fuel up in the lines but after a few tries I realized the wire I thought was a switched 12 volt wire I connected to the ignition box was only showing 2 volts in the key run position. So looks like somethings shorting or it isn't a switched wire... I'll try to trace it down tomorrow and hopefully post a longer video of it running. lol

Thanks
Could it be a bad ballast resistor?
I'm using a mopar performance ignition box and the switched red wire I hooked to the blue ignition wire turns out to not be right. I found with my multimeter it wasn't giving me volts in the run position so pretty sure that's why it kills when I let off the key.

Sounds pretty good. Lots of compression...or timing.

I think my issue is the igniton the reason why I'm getting 2 volts is probably because it's drawing it all to spark? The switched wire reads same as battery until I touch the msd wire to it then it drops it down to 2... And the Starter gets too hot to crank over more then 3-4 tries...

Congrats on your fire up!

What format vidio are you useing? Won't work for me...
Hmm I uploaded it to a video sharing site but I see it wont load on my phone... I'll have to try YouTube or something different.

If it quits when you let off the key there could be several things to look for. Sounds like you're on track with the diagnosis.
Good luck and keep us updated on what you find.

So, apparently you have to splice the blue and brown ignition wires to the MSD... It clearly looks to be running rich. I've gotta hook up my tach to see where its idling but it sounds pretty low so hopeful turn the idle up alittle and lean it out a little. But I'm excited it runs. Now I just gotta bolt in the motor plate and hook up the accessories.

Thanks yeah it is hard to start as you can see. I'll try backing it off alittle and see what happens. And yes idle needs adjusted. Thanks y'all
