Aluminum Grounding

I bought a water temp warning light (230 degrees) so I won't forget to turn on the electric water pump (once is it)

Now I notice after looking at the directions that it is "self grounding".

Will it work on an aluminum water pump or should I get one with a separate ground.

No extra ground required Jack. Aluminum conducts just fine.
 
might want to consider some NOALOX on the threads if the metals are dissimilar. It'll keep oxidation under control and maintain good conductivity.

That's a handy chart Photon....thanks.
It shows that Silver is a better conductor than Gold, and yet most high-end electronics have Gold plated terminals. I guess the best reason for that (cost aside here), is that Silver tarnishes so quickly, that the extra money for the Gold pays off in the long run for durability.
 
Ànother reason is that gold doesnt work harden; it stays ductile in an environment with vibration such as an aircraft instrument panel.

And, like you say it won`t corrode.
 
Compared to copper, aluminium has worse conductivity per unit volume, but better conductivity per unit weight. In many cases, weight is more important than volume making aluminium the 'best' conductor material for certain applications. For example, it is commonly used for large-scale power distribution conductors such as overhead power lines. In many such cases, aluminium is used over a steel core that provides much greater tensile strength than would the aluminium alone...just sayin...
