I've had several good dialogs with the seller of this 1969 Coronet R/T. He has owned it 16 years, and said it's been a very reliable car. Restored in the 1990s and he has no documentation or history due to a garage fire. Not numbers matching, no fender tag, and currently registered and insured. I've asked repeatedly what doesn't work, or what the car needs and his reply is just the glove box door latch and blower motor are the only items that need replacement. I contacted Rocket Restorations to see if they could inspect the car, or recommend someone to look it over for me. Asking $35,000 obo; At this price I'm really interested (even though it's not green).

I like it! It's red and it seems like a righteous price. I've seen this ad as not many people will show a pack of smokes in their car. Tumwater is just about an hour and a half north of me. Let me know if you need any help with logistics or anything. I could potentially set eyes on it and answer specific questions you might have, but I am not a qualified inspector and wouldn't be comfortable in that role. What would be your plan for getting it to AZ?

Thanks. Well I don't want to put the cart in front of the horse, but I was going to see if Rocket Restoration would act like a broker and get the car shipped for me. Otherwise I would probably use Montway Enclosed. I have to wonder if he smoked in this ride?

Looking at the pictures the rubber is missing off the brake pedal ( and the chrome dress up trim )
Missing the little bumper stops on both doors ( you can see the slots where they should go )
You can see the trunk floor is a little rusty along the edge of the mat so it would be nice to see what it looks lik under the mat
Wonder what the head liner looks like ?

Yes I think someone should have a look at it in case the pictures are not telling the whol story

I forgot; he did say the trunk was crusty and had a few small holes.

@Billccm , I just reread the ad and it does say obo. Have you explored that yet? I've had pretty good luck buying long distance by asking the seller what his best price is if I show up in his driveway with cash and a trailer, along with the promise that I won't dicker further once I'm there, and that I'll give him the agreed upon price or leave with an empty trailer. Sometimes I'm surprised at the price they give. Sometimes I offer a suggestion. I think he probably has some room.

It looks nice enough to put your eyes and hands on it. At that price you can afford to repair issues however you really need to look it over to see how expensive those issues will be.

Ok, in no particular order:

Not enough pictures and the ones he posted aren't good.

The chrome on the front bumper looks old and tired.

The air cleaner looks rusty and crusty.

The front of the engine and intake manifold haven't seen a good coat of paint in a long time.

Plastic body fuel filter.

The trunk floor needs to be inspected.

The driver's door looks misaligned to me.

The two rubber bumpers on each door are missing. I'm not familiar with details on this model, but I was expecting to see rubber bumpers.

The door window cranks should be oriented the same...both door windows are up, but the cranks are not clocked the same

Parking brake release is bent downwards.

Brake pedal is missing rubber.

What does the carpet look like under the mats?

Driver's seat bottom vinyl is split in a few places.

Front passenger's seat belt is old and ratty/frayed looking.

What is that yellow junk I see in the jamb areas? Accumulated pollen and other debris or overspray?

Radio aerial antenna looks wrong. I know...nit picking. I'm on a roll.

Passenger's side rocker panel trim moulding looks dented and beat up to me. Also, there is a gap between the rocker panel trim moulding and the front wheel well moulding. I didn't see a gap on the other side of the car.

R/T emblem and tail stripe on passenger's side rear quarter appear to be misaligned with one another.

Pack of cigarettes and lighter sitting on the console. Someone already said to check for smoker/cigarette smells.

Headliner material on the passenger's side sail panel is wrinkled a lot.

Paperwork lost in a garage fire? Seriously? Oh, it's facebook.

Not numbers matching...
What engine is in it?
What transmission?
What differential and gear ratio?
Sure grip?

Does the dash VIN match the VIN on the title?

Oh, I don't see concentric throttle-return springs on the carburetor linkage. The one spring I do see is ratty and rusted.

WIW? Maybe half his asking price. However, I wouldn't waste any effort to have someone look it over.
