A Mopar, yes!!! But this technology is starting to become a nightmare for those entertaining the idea of purchasing an EV muscle car. At this rate, No Thanks!!! Cr8cr$hr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

EV Cars have there place. If I was still working I would own one and skip the fill up game 2 times a week. But as for Muscle car... not yet to many issues.

I always wonder about electric cars being silent. Like would I get in it in the morning, select drive and then run over a critter that was sleeping under the car.

Yes but those sounds happen once movement starts, which could be too late for a sleeping and not too intelligent critter. I have noticed some electric Hyundais make a sound even when parked, so maybe they all do that once you jump in.

Not really related but a neighbor and I were chatting near the rear of my idling truck (its more like a trucklette to be fair) and he asks if that thing is running, and I had to pause because I wasn't sure it stalled. Could only really hear it when we went to the front of the thing, it kind of tripped us out. My neighbor isn't a hotrodder at all and even he said I need to put an exhaust on that thing.

D) EV - warning sign due to safety battery fires GM Bolt-Volt EV & EUVs no parking.jpeg

D) EV 95% are still on the road & 5% actually made it back home.png

BC ferries is having issues with the EV cars. They are not. allowed on board, if they are being towed. That will make it difficult for Island dwellers who need to get repairs for their non running EV cars.

A total of 8,390 are being recalled.
So basically, ALL of them that they have sold and maybe some they haven't across the entire country in the last 9 months. LOL.
I have yet to even see one in person in WI. I think maybe the big dealer in the bigger city about an hour away had one parked on the lot when i drove by but I didn;t get a second look to confirm. Haven't seen a single one on the road, even in the recent holiday "up norte" traffic.

Ok ..... just for FUN how many of you ever rode or drove an EV ?

Me:
Toyota Prius , First notice is how heavy it felt. Other than that is was butt ugly ( friend took me for a ride)

Tesla model 3. Super fast performance. A lot of wild new technology, again seems heavy. ( my son bought one new)

The Tesla is faster than my 1977 (3.0) Porsche 911S by far, but is NO where near in the fun factor. Also the Porsche take about 10 minutes to gas up and go 400+ miles.
:bananadance:

Don't get me started on the build cost of a classic Porsche.

One of my older brothers mounted a Studebaker starter to a bicycle. I rode it around in a field behind our house. I don't recall how long the car battery held a useful charge.

FYI, a 6 Volt system for those not familiar with Studebaker cars.

I’ve not driven any electric vehicles unless you count a bumper car. I’ve ridden in Teslas and one electric Fiat 500. I actually liked the Fiat because I like kooky cars. Also rode in some midsize Chevy hybrid, can’t remember the name but I remember thinking kind of liking it.

We have quite few on my Island. And many bicycles with batteries. But South Surrey on the mainland, has to be the Tesla capitol. They are everywhere. Zero to 60 they are quite fast, but most of the time that acceleration can not be used. That is what I find with my bike. Rarely do I buzz it up the rev range. On twisty roads, a Porsche is the quick car. In traffic a bike is handy.

I also got a ride in a tesla. No thanks.
It is heavy. That is why it feels heavy.
If you take your '77 to any area besides a drag strip, you could drive circles around your son's car. Custom tuned EV's haven't been able to beat 15 year old records on the nurbergring. Last I checked a Caddy CTS-V was still faster then the best EV time posted by a fair margin. When was that record set, 2008 or so?
Teslas are for people that prioritize the ability to make your turn signal sound like a fart.

No EV is a driver's car. It is transportation and has been proven 100x over to be less efficient then an ICE vehicle when you capture the entire process of actually producing and transmitting the electricity, plus the car, plus the charging, etc. Electricity has inherently less energy in it then any fuel. Then you consider loss during transmission, loss to storage, battery life and the loss involved with charge and discharge, on and on you find efficiency losses that no one wants to admit to because it destroys the green narrative about EV. I won;t even start on what happens when you put one into sub zero temps in winter because most people wouldn't run a driver's car in that weather either, but the tesla is supposed to be daily transportation so I won't forgive it on that front either.

Even if EV is less efficient, they're still cheaper to 'fill up' every month. Some people are only looking for that, not really caring whether it's "green" or has energy losses.
