Another seller on drugs? Not mine

picard-facepalm.jpg

What's crazy about that? The ad didn't cost him anything and if it sells it sells. And if it doesn't maybe he didn't want to sell it anyway. And if he does want to sell it he will lower his price. The seller does not set the price the buyer does. Why start out asking less then it's worth to somebody else?

If it was restored ten years ago, that's probably about the time he bought it, and 2005 was a pretty peak time for E-bodies. It didn't matter what it had, or what year it was, if it was an E-body it was $$$$, so I have no doubt he/she is into the car for at least that amount. This is a pretty common situation for lots of folks who bought into the hobby in the 1990s and 2000s. They way overpaid for their cars, values are dropping, and they still hope to get their money back.

Interesting combination of parts, 318 - 4 speed, numbers matching? I agree, the price is up to the BUYER.

The 'numbers matching' transmission he's including is a three speed. Also mentions 318 4bbl and stock in the same description. I don't think he knows what he has.

Judging by the pictures and description alone its a nice looking car done right. He probably wants to break even or come close to breaking even on the sale of the car. I think to say he's "on drugs" may be somewhat excessive. His thoughts on what he can get may be slightly excessive given the market today.
Look at it this way i bought a complete 69 sport sat conv with the 383 and many options. It was one of well under a thousand made. I paid 3 grand, make that 3800 with transportation to get it home. The body work, under hood interior, rain gutters inside the body, trunk is perfect and there is a minimum of bond, the paint job is excellent. So just with the purchase price of the car plus just the body and paint I'm into the car for say 15-16. Now its a stripped except for the rear and castors on the front end. Try and get a conv and get it to were I'm at and see what it costs? So if i wanted to break even and i wanted 15 am i on drugs or just asking to much

I agree with everyone that the buyer can list it at whatever he or she wants. Maybe he has it listed that high because he really doesn't want to get rid of it, but then what is the point? Don't list it if you want to keep it that bad. Or if you want to get your money back out of an investment, don't invest in cars. Other people see this stuff and then think they have some kind of car made out of solid gold, and list for a similarly high price.

He's looking for a buyer that doesn't know any better. Without seeing the car, I'm guessing it would sell fairly quickly in the 20-22K range. Not a bad looking car but not a desirable year or powertrain.

It is a very nice looking car, and whoever did the restoration did a great job. But I agree with Moparsmitty on the 22K range. Maybe "on drugs" was a little excessive, but it seems like every seller out there now a days has the idea that they have a long lost piece of Mopar history.

I secretly smile when I see high priced Mopars, just as I like when my neighbors asks a crazy high price for their property. I have no problem with the price of mopars going up.

Propecia or Viagra??? If the seller was on crack ,the car would look way worse than that and be more expensive IMHO.

have one built...... or do it yourself....... either lots of money, or lots of time, or both....... he will get a few "reasonable" offers I'm sure

Ditto.

nice car but, not for that price, not as equipped

& OK I'll be captain obvious...LOL
yes everyone can ask, what ever they want for their car,
we see it all the time, cost usually doesn't equate to value rarely

it doesn't mean that it's not a nice car,
if somebody falls in love & buys it @ an inflated cost,
then good for them, I hope they thoroughly enjoy it
