Any opinions on Johnson lifters?

I am ready to make a cam swap and I have heard that Johnson hydraulic flat tappet lifters are a quality product.
Anyone here care to spill a story?

Meh, I think they're overpriced old school technology when there are such lifters as the Rhoads V-MAX and all of the other direct oiling lifters available today. I don't think I would build a flat tappet cam engine now unless I could get some type of direct oil on the cam lobes. Read about the V-MAX. They adjust with a feeler gauge like a solid, you can even run them with a solid cam. They are totally badass.

In fact, all the experience I have seen with Johnson has been bad. I have a friend with a 392 Hemi in a 29 model A that's had nothing but problems with them. They've sent him new ones every time but who the hell wants to swap lifters out all the time?

johnson is good stuff. eaton tappets are very good but no longer made. stanadyne is pure garbage.
