Buncha parts swappers around here.... I however have all my original equipment... Guess that means I'm numbers matching...

End of the day, Good Luck with your surgery, mostly I hear good things about it...

I had my right done also last April before moving. It was great. if I had 3 legs I would get another. My Doc, unbeknownst to me before my first surgery, is a regional superstar with over 21,000 joint replacements. If you ever need a joint replacement in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area, look up Dr. Michael Harrar from Rothman Orthopedic.

My Doc has operated on people in their 40's, and even a few in their 30's.
Recuperation time is short, if you follow physical therapy and walk a lot. You'll be asking yourself "why did I wait so long?" Just do it!
I read that 20% of all replacements are on people under 30, that's a impressive number if you ask me! I found out that even Lara Logan on GMA had Her's done at 27, and She's a very active and athletic gal too.

69a100, Mobility is fine after the replacement. Range of motion not like the real thing.
Gets sore during activity. But I can't really complain.
I'm still studying the subject, exercises, rehab, etc. My biggest fear is doing that over 90* bend to early and dislocating it. Thanx Darter for letting me resurrect your post and to all that have added!, Eventually all ball joints fail at some time or another, I guess it's my time for some suspension work!!

doing that over 90* bend to early and dislocating it.
My Doc said the new replacements no longer require that. Even when I had mine done 2 years ago.

Remember what the Doctors motto is.. " They bury my mistakes"....

I know of a guy who dislocated his new hip twice in 1 week and had to go back in. I'm sure he did not follow the doctor's orders and paid the price. Follow your doctor's instructions and you'll be fine. There are three ways to do the surgery - anterior, posterior, and something in between. Both of mine were posterior (through the side of my ***). It's longer recovery, because he cuts through your muscle on the side. I've heard lots of good results with the anterior method, too. My doc preferred posterior on my first one and thought best to do the second one the same way. I have zero complaints about the results!

Left hip got reworked in '08 after my accident. 35 years old. Metal hip, plate in my pelvis, rod in my femur. Zipper scar up my left cheek.

Working fine. No hitch, no real pain...but I don't need the weather channel lol. I can tell when changes are coming. We shall see how it ages...so far though, I still do 10k+ steps a day, mountain bike, row, ride the motorcycles, and do whatever else I can with no real limits. Overall, after what... 14 years? No real complaints.
