I was wondering if anyone has used these before in 318 to up the compression? I am wondering how the valve guides are secured to head by casting them in or by pressed in, if anyone knowsit would really help. Thanks

The guides are cast in as part of the heads unless they have been modified.

Have you ever used these heads before? How does one go about removing the guides to change them?

They have to be drilled out to oversize them, then new inserts pressed in. If the guides are not to bad they can be knurled for stem seating.

They have to be cut out.
There's several ways to repair, or replace guides, and you've just got to decide which way to go. Everybody has their own preference.

anyone know where to get harden exhaust seats for 1.600 valves for the 920 casting head?

There are a few sources to buy hardened seats but that's handled at the machine shop level.

So u mean when I take the heads to a machine shop they will have the hardened seats there?

You may already know, but just in case you are not aware, the 920 heads come stock with 1.78 intakes and 1.50 exhausts.

Ya was this.king of doing 1.88 and 1.60 when getting the hardened seats done do u know the size of the combustion chamber on the 920, and the stock 318 head?
