Anyone use ATF+4 in their high performance trans?

It's in all of my daily drivers which include a 95 Dakota 'Yard Cart' that's been terrorized almost daily since new, a 97 2500 diesel that's been was bought in 2001 and a 2000 Durango that was bought new. All have over 100k miles but I'm a bit nicer to the 97 and the 2000 although the 97 saw several static burnouts in the first year I had it until new tires were installed lol. Anyways, I've never use the +4 in anything that was built up....

i use atf4 in a car that came from the factory with atf3 with good results. i thought i heard somewhere that atf4 wasn't good for the earlier 727/904's so i never put it in my early stuff. of course not to use atf4 in earlier trannys could be internet garbage too.

I just got off the phone with Cope Racing Transmissions (because I have one) He said any name brand except Valvoline, that is Dex/Merc and no synthetics. I told him I couldn't find the Pennzoil that he recommended. I do have Mobil in my area and he said that was fine.

i use the valvoline dex/merc III, what ever you want to call it......lol. never had an issue thru the years. maybe some of cope's race stuff had an issue? i like it. is it the best? i don't know, but bet you could do worse. i used to be real **** about lubes and brands. i'm at the point anymore to where i think proper maintenance means more than the label.

I've been using +4 since it was +3...lol. I used Type F until the early 90s. ATF+ whatever since then. No loss in performance, temperatures are lower with it (in the few vehicles that have trans temp gages).

Type F my friends! I run it in the Charger 727. Mopar Action dude says it is a more gritty fluid that promotes less slippage.
