Auto detail clay bar use on satin black paint?

I used a clay bar for the first time last week and was pleased with the results. However, I skipped the hood bulge which is painted black. Is it safe/recommended to use the clay bar on the black part of my hood? Thank you.

I think it's safe. I use it on everything including the large black graphics on the 06 Daytona. Glass, chrome etc. Use lots of lube and do a small area to test if you think it is necessary. Let us know.
