I have an automatic shift on the floor that is missing the spring and I'm unsure what the expected dimensions should be.

I picked up 2 springs. both ~1.5" in length
One that just fit the ID of the knob and one with the diameter to just fit the OD of the button. (not sure of the exact mechanics)

I just cannot seem to get it to start the threading on the linkage. only when there isn't spring does it seem to actually thread... so i'm wondering if my length is too long? ...or if the springs I bought are too strong

Anyone have measurements i could use?
