Awesome Stuff! Scammers getting busted...

I suppose when you tell the bank it's personal they can't say anymore about it.
A friend who would get a little wasted in the afternoons and evenings got a call from his brother who lives in Texas. Brother said he was down in Mexico, had a couple beers, and got pulled over by the Federales. He needed $7500, but don't call his wife because he doesn't want her worried or to get mad at him. So my neighbor wires off $7500. He didn't say anything to me and we're neighbors too, so I didn't hear about it until it was too late.
The next day his brother calls back, the Federales want more and he needs another $5000. so he goes to the bank and the bank starts to get nosy asking him what it's about. They tell him it sounds like a scam. He was kind of gruff sometimes so I'm sure he told them: "it's my damn money and I'll do with it as I please" and he did. $12,500 gone.
So after a day or two he can't stand it anymore and he calls his brother-in-law who is sitting at home and hadn't been to Mexico in weeks.
He said the scammer sounded just like his brother and knew things, he was convinced.
His brother's call originated from a Mexican prison.

He deserved that for being gullible!!

I hate the lowlife scumbags....

I don't agree with Ironbuilt, yeah he was gullible, yeah hopefully he learned his lesson but there are allot of scammers out there which means scamming obviously works & sometimes even skeptical/alert people get scammed..

No I've never been scammed, but I've prevented a few people from being scammed.. Did I mention I hate the lowlife scumbags....

I also hate scumbags, and I believe in donating a bullet for every thief. That being said; if you go through life with your head in the sand, I can't feel sorry for you.

I'm sure that's how the criminals who did it to him see it.
He thought he was helping his brother-in-law who was in a jam.
Im sorry for your neighbour and nobody deserves to be scammed like that. People just make mistakes and dont think things through.
People are scammed everyday and its not just taken for money either

These people are very good at what they do. They have been doing it for hundreds of years and were successful with their techniques hundreds of years before the Internet. Some might think it could never happen to them because they are internet savvy and aware of such scams, but they are lying to themselves. The only reason they haven't been scammed in some way is because we are all, one in several billion, of potential marks.
Ironbilt, when the person standing near you as you use a credit card scans your info, does that make you "stupid" like my friend?

crazy ****...

if you don't know them, especially the phone#
(I screen everything, with caller ID, don't answer & immediately just delete/erase ****
I don't know... I will block the numbers too...
Seems, My dad at 85 is a target, he donates to too many charities, some are questionable,

& they sell your info... I can't believe some of the ****, some old people do...
Even after being warned...
I'm just glad he doesn't know how to
use a computer or he'd have been scammed, by a charity...
I also always shred almost everything
that comes in the mail too... So he doesn't even see it...
Doesn't send them any info or a check, they can get his info off of... I've told him several times,
stacks of junk mail weekly... it's nucken' futs
)
or the "alleged" account
or don't send **** some/any douches to some company or wire funds
to some douche from India, China, Russia, Mexico
trying to scam people & you don't clarify it (?),
especially for those amounts of $$$
don't do/send ****, you're a fucken idiot

don't be so gullible

some people really are stupid old or young
especially the 'greatest generation' are the ones targeted

:thankyou: @1 Wild R/T

hope they (LEO's/DA/AG/Prosecutors) fry their asses too
:luvplace:

Blacks, Indians and Asians all involved... Great people .. Lets bring more like them into the country for " a better life".....

Phone scammers don't stand a chance in my house....its a race to the phone when it rings.

Its the only time my wife condones blatant swearing in the house. :D

you can do a quick search of #'s on the -www-
I've used Bing or more often Duck Duck Go, I've had good success
& you can actually report them in many cases too
usually they're tagged as scams too

Scams are such a constant. I spend at least 1 hour a day at work fending off email scams and creating filters to keep these guys at bay. Its like playing wack a mole.

Two big nukes would sort out most of the scammers.....India and Nigeria.

Job done.

Solutions....not problems.

And while I agree allot of the scams do originate there, plenty are from the US... And I know quite a few folks of Indian decent that are very good people... Even a couple car guys in that group.... Strong morals, strong family values...

There's probably a whole industry devoted to the phone scam industry. Machines that cut the sound when somebody blows a police whistle into their phone, or something that cuts profanities. I used to screw with them, but now I figure the worst thing I can do is waste their time. Now, I say hello, and then when I hear the boiler room noise in the background I don't say anything else. I hear them saying: hello, hello, is anybody there? They know I am, some ask many times, and then they hang up. My hope is that I'll get a little thing next to my name that tells all the other scammers who buy the list I'm on that I'm a time waster, I'm not a mark, I'm a time waster

I actually use a special wallet to prevent that from happening. I have done my share of stupid, though.

I should get something like that. I'm so ignorant and trusting, I can only go with: Abandon all hope and pray
