bad throttle cable

just asking, my R B Block 4 speed '63 has a problem "hanging up" on occasion when under acceleration...
or deceleration......I checked return spring, carb, throttle plates, etc, ..I am pretty sure it is the throttle cable. any feed back.:eusa_think:

also I ordered a lokar braided stainless...or black?:argue:

Once those strands start popin',They also bunch uo down below where it comes through the firewall.When that happened to be,the throttle stuck wide open and I stained my panties.Ended up turning the key off to stop
I went with the Lokar and it worked out well!!

I've heard that same throttle problem happen with really bad motor mounts. The motor rocks and ends up pulling the cable slightly. Just an idea to check...

could not hurt to change "cable"
also, check the motor mounts!..
(I also was thinking along the same lines)

my 440 belvy did that. what was happening was.....when i got on it pretty good, the torque would pull on the clamp that holds the throttle cable to the block. .....then it would idle really fast until i loosened the clamp nut then it would go back to normal idle. i chained down the drivers side on the engine...( actually i used braided stainless steel cable with saddle clamps )....fixxed the prob. now i can terrorize the neighborhood again .! lol

new lokar throttle cable and new "duel" return spring....a little
tweak and it responds great..thanks for the input!
