went to start the 71 yesterday, and the battery was weak wtf.me thinks i found why,but dont know how to fix it.there is a blue light right beside my 4 way switch inside my steering calume that lights up when i open the doors and says lit after i close the door, only gos out when i move the steering wheel left to right very little tho.first time i notice that little light.any thoughts please.

I put a marine grade battery cut off switch from West Marine just to be sure when parked. Kills everyhing. EFI and modern sound unaffected by power removal. Battery maybe 8 years old.
Tic Toc Tach was parasitic years ago. Has not worked since the 80’s.

That’s the ign, switch lamp, should come on when the door opens then shut off after about 90 seconds after door closes. If it stays on longer it is likely the time delay relay, small round metal three prong device originally taped to the dash harness near the lower steering column. If it goes off when moving the steering wheel, could also have a connection issue in the column.
