Well I know there have been many posts regarding oil pans for our '62-'65 B-Bodies, and the lack of available products to choose from. I have my current and future projects in need of pans, so I decided to try a mod for the first, a Max W build. Started out with a Milodon 31010, which has a 7-3/4" depth sump, 7Qt pan. These pans will fit with no mod, but the problem is road clearance for street driving safely. We have some of the worst paved roads in the nation, as our winters are brutal with the frost heaves, pot holes, and lack of tax funds, as our's go right down to NYC to keep them afloat. I decided to cut my new pan up, and removed about 1-1/2" from the sump. I cleaned it all up, and re-fitted the sump back in place, and had it tig welded in. I haven't done a mock up on it yet, but it's 1-1/2" up from where I started. I also recently found the other pan pictured, which is supposedly a '62-5 BB pan, and appears as if it will also fit. Still need to mock that up too. If anyone can ID the stock pan, I'd appreciate the help on that, Thanks...

VanDan, is their a number on the stock pan?

None that I can find. I don't see any stampings on it, but there may be one under the layers of black paint on it. Do you know if they were stamped at all, and what location on the pan ? Definitely no large embossed digits, like a 402...

Here’s a couple of pictures of an original early B body big block oil pan.

Hey PRND21, is that a 4 Qt pan you have pictured, and could you get a measurement of the depth where the centerlink passes underneath that point behind the sump ? Thanks
Yes, the typical “5 qt w/filter” oil pan. I’ll get a measurement later today for you.

A little hard to see in this picture, it measures 1 7/8” at that point. Closer to the sump it’s 2”.
