Take you 45 minutes to drain oil, take off and install new oil pump. 4 bolts. I just did it the other day. I use Mopar Perf hi volume and the stock cam gear for 15 years with no issues. Melling is probably the same one anyway.
I'm glad you got it figured out moparmusclecars without changing the pump. I would NEVER use a high volume pump without a massive capacity oil pan. I know a few people as well as heard stories from engine builders of tragic endings. On a Mopar big block, stock or high pressure are plenty. I run a Melling HP pump on my 650 horse 440 with absolutely no issues. 70 PSI cold start up, 40 psi at idle (1100 RPM's). Yes, a little excessive pressure you could say, but it's still running awesome after 15 years.
