Okay, I assume that a lot of us like to "blow the carbon out of the system" (as they used to say) on the highway by going faster than the posted speed limit. Maybe even a lot faster. So I'm wondering if anyone's got recommendations and good experience with a particular kind or brand of what we used to call "fuzzbusters" back in the day? I know that state PD radar and laser technology have changed a lot since then - what detectors have stayed a step ahead?

My Eyes...LOL..

I usually get on the freeway when the traffic is light and drive the speed limit until somebody blows by me doing way over the limit (Usually don't have to wait very long). Let them get about a mile or so in front of you, then you can go about as fast as you want for a little while. They will nail him first. Not a perfect system, but I haven't been stopped for speeding in over 30 years!:sSig_goodluck:

Often called my new Rabbit!!! LOL:upside down:

Thanks - that's a lot of models (and I'll bet a big range in prices). Anyone have experience with one of them?

I like this system too. Otherwise, I use Valentine 1. Best ever. Has saved many many possible problems. It sees them before they see you. Accurate. Everytime. No deals, it is $399 everywhere. Just get it. It will pay itself off the very first time. I have the stealth set up in the Coronet. Don't even know it is in there. Easy car to car transfers too. Front-side-and rear detectors on the Valentine 1.

valentine and escort are the best...the valentine guy used to work for escort and broke off on his own, but those are the top rated radar and lazer detectors.

Reviews are always good to read. I think 498 is high unless they went up.

As far a features, this reminds me of my best garmin. $99 without all the "features. Just get what you need.

Used to use them years ago. Now i just use the ones powered by people..... BRAKE LIGHTS.

Just beware of, a Police officer's visual estimate of speed is enough for a conviction of speeding. So best radar detectors and laser jamming won't help.......

He'd better be darn good at guessing speed cause most courts won't even convict if there is no radar involved.

More Information....After an accident, police can estimate the speed that a car was traveling by measuring its skid marks. Also issuing a ticket..Radar training requires you to pass a written and practical test. For the practical part we had to estimate the speed of a vehicle by+ or - 3 mph. Which can also be used in court... Let me clarify, not all states will convict...

I read both those links you posted and they were very interesting. As far as i know, iowa does not have the visual speed determination factor. If i/we get pulled over, we have the right to see the radar unit and the speed that is displayed. We can also inquire as to whet time the unit was "locked on" and if the time is not consistent with the officer locking the unit till the vehicle is pulled over, that gives us grounds to have citation thrown out.
Don't take this the wrong way, but yrs ago, ohio was famous for issuing speeding tickets to truck drivers for going 56 in a 55 zone on the interstate (i know that for a fact,i got one)They have slacked up a bit since they raised the speed limit so we don't call ohio a communist state anymore.New York is not that bad as far as i know,i enjoy going thru there especially upstate N.Y.
I know different states have different legalities concerning the same law. So i will say i did not know about the training that was used in your statement.

i would suggest a "CLOAKING DEVICE" . this is a modern device that you connect to your battery and coil. it makes a "magnetic field" around your car and impervious to radar....and bird droppings.....and wet leaves......and your X that may be upset with you for one reason or another.....your wife.....your mistress ( can be turned off for the mistress ).....your mother-in-law....and possibly your boss......your friends ( if you owe them money) ... and your enemies..( if THEY owe YOU money).....and of course,,,,any "mullet sporting" moron in a 69 Camaro.

Yes but the klingons have the only and they won't let me borrow it.

A CB turned on always seemed to work very well around here on the big roads and even on the smaller highways,, Just not used as much as the old days..
