Beware:1968 Hemi Charger on ebay

Notice the guy says something about the electrical gremlins, and that he's just 'being honest'. People like that should be banned from selling.

i also wonder if he filed a claim on the damage, recieved a large check, and then asking $147,500 for it now. sounds like a profitable business lol!

Yeah that sucker took a bath for sure... People like that should be shot.

everything that was bare metal has fresh rust on it, I see that. And I see your point on how it got that way, prob flood damage, but is there a public record paper trail to document that the car was water damaged and paid off?

Report it to ebay and have them check the ad. They will investigate because of the buy back policy

About 2/3 way down the page he shows the serial number on the radiator support - I guess that is the number of the car. He went to great lengths to conceal the complete VIN tag number :sleepy4:

Hey cut the guy a break, he is just trying to sell it off. The buyer is the fool who does not come and look at it first.

This car was flooded during hurricane Sandy and is probably a salvage car. There is no mention of it being flooded in the ad. Check out all the rust underneath & stained carpets. Pass the word around to different foums.

That car appears pretty nice, must have been cleaned up somewhat, other than all the rusted raw metal underneath, kind of pretty typical for east coast cars, after a few years, with all the humidity, especially if it was submerged in salt or brackish water for any period of time... Do you know the car DH/RC ??... it's in Glendale Az. now too, is it just another low life flipper, trying to sell it ?? that's too bad

According to some board members on other sites the 6 digit vehicle shipping # on the F/T matches the F/T and vin pics from the Sandy flood Charger when it went up for auction.

There are a few people on these web boards that track and document every high dollar Mopar they come across. I remember at Carlisle a few years ago there was a very rusty AAR Cuda on a trailer, broken in half. Several people took pics of the F/T and vin in case this appeared as a rebody in the future. I use to think these people had too much spare time on their hands. I now tip my hat to them.

Owner says water was only half way up the tires... has a clear title , not a salvage title.. get it for the right price, tear it down..put it back together!

it's at $82,500 right now... it would be worth it then maybe, but his buy it now price &/or reserve is too high IMHFO thou

I gotta read posts a little slower....the first time I read this I thought it said "water was only half way up the trees...."
It is a great looking car....and to tear it apart and rebuild again would be a smart move. Getting it for the right price to think about that is the hard part.

I read what you said and I think I met the guy and he has some high powered cars ( look in the photos ). Before I would rag on him I think I would ask him that question, because if I was him and found out what you are saying is untrue, I would really be mad. He also states to come and inspect the car and as far as the rust on the bottom I live in Az and that is common on alot of cars.

Also if it was in the flood it would have a salvage title.

If the owner turned in a claim to an insurance company and the insurance company paid a claim on the automobile the insurance company then owns the car. The owner gives the insurance company the title which is surrendered to the state that issued the title and a salvage title is issued to the insurance company. Once the insurance company receives the title some companies will have the car towed to a storage lot where bids are taken for the salvage. Other companies have contracts with salvage yards. In these cases the salvage yard takes possession of the car and they dispose of it as they see fit. Other companies may permit the owner to retain the salvaged automobile and the original owner buys the salvage back from the insurance company for whatever the salvage is worth. In those cases sometimes the title is left alone.
