Does anyone have a diagram or a good description of the coolant flow through the big block water jackets? I have a lot of flushing to do.

Is there any aluminum in there? Water pump, radiator, heads, etc.... If not, coolant goes in bottom of water pump, through block, up to heads and back to water pump until released by thermostat to go back to radiator. Also circulates through heater core from water pump. I drain all coolant, then fill with distilled water and marine engine descaler per product ratio then run it per instructions. If you have aluminum, there is a brand that is aluminum safe. Watch videos on this stuff, I used it on my Jet boat and my old Chevy Blazer, works great.

Pull the pipe plugs on either side of the block each time you drain it. I do mine on ramps and have a small, longer funnel with the end cut to catch the coolant. After flushing w distilled I just let the water go.

I'm working on a block on an engine stand. Lot's of gunk dug out through the core openings already. I think I have a block that had lots of radiator stop leak run through it.

Hot tank it.

Already been hot tanked, lot's of crud and scale still in the water jackets.

I just used my pressure washer and jetted each opening. ALL sorts of orange gunk came out!
