I remember a 1950s Popular Mechanics article where someone shoehorned a Merlin engine into a car. It had a 3:1 weight to horsepower ratio. It had a complicated starting procedure too, something like

Mixture - Rich
Throttle - 1/4
Fuel cock - on
Ignition - on
Starter - on

Maintain zero boost until warm.
etc....
