Block hugger headers?

I bought these for a hot rod project and there is not enough clearance for spark plugs and boots even with shorty plugs. I asked the seller what was up, and they were completely ignorant that they even had to clear spark plugs and boots. Just a salesman running interference I'm sure. It was too late to return by the time I fitted them.

I'll try to clearance them, and of course they are stainless so not soft, .... so my guess is that they will end up in the scrap bin.

Just run platinum plugs?
I wonder if Engine Masters ever did a stock manifold vs block hugger vs long tube dyno comparison test?

Are any block hugger headers produced for B & RB engines? Thanks!

I'm running the same type in small block - on my A100, and they are awesome. Nice fit, well made and I got mine coated also. Makes a big difference in generated heat under the doghouse lid.

Nobody has asked me, but anyway......
My opinion is those block huggers will work in a 32 Ford chassis, or something similar.....and won't fit in any stock mopar body that I know of..... and they don't look like they'll improve a stock hi perf manifold by even one horsepower.
I might consider a set if I ever stick a 440 in my 33 Imperial.
As Bob would say, my opinion only.

As Bob would say, my opinion only.
As Bob was also say....most of the opinions given here are just talk....and not borne of actuality.

I have been running hugger style headers, and I don't believe they have been detrimental to the Hooker Super Comps that I had.....the biggest advantage for me is there is less heat generated in the doghouse, and there is more real estate available under the lid, making access to plugs a bit easier.

I don't enjoy running good people down, I am just stating the facts as I see them.

Disclaimer - negative noticeability of perceived drop-off in performance is rated on the "Seat-of-the-pantsometer" ....as Bob would say. :)

Well, after looking over the responses, I think I will build my own. I have been exploring a rat rod project and have a spare 440, many 727 cores and 4 8 3/4 axles to put a drive train together. My 65 is almost out of the upholstery prison and I want another build project.
Thanks again for the responses!
Mike
