Bogus electric savings ?

Complete scam, they sold the crap out of them in Asia, my wife brought one home (from the Philippines), you plug it into any outlet and it has a led light on it to show that it is on, but that it all it has is an led light, there isn't any electronics in it or anything that does anything. Its like the magnet on the fuel line deal... gets you thinking "maybe"... and then you spend your money.

Thanks. So, you took it apart, to see how it worked ? I would too. I figured it had a magnet. Just an led light is a disappointment lol. Maybe they should market it as a night light. :)

If the market it as a nite lite they won't be able to get the big bucks for it.

A Power Factor correction capacitor might help in the home, but I doubt it would have much impact - more useful if you run a lot of electric motors at home. One refrigerator won't make a difference.

The PFC unit repairs I carried out in August last year have already paid for themselves at a Quarry I work at. They spend around $30k a month in power, and the monthly savings covered the repairs in one year.
But I doubt it would make much if any impact in the domestic installations.

is it like a Brightbulb .com (the new Ron Popeil types) BS ?,
late-night TV advertisements infomercials, crap
buy 1 now we'll send you 2 at no extra cost, just add an extra fee
(yeah double the cost & shipping fees :poke:doh!!! )

almost all of them types of deals are scams or total junk,
impulse buys & marketing ploys for the ill-informed

ol' adage
if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is

Like al gimmicks.
If it really worked.
The money boys would buy the company, and pull it off the market.
