Hi guy's,
I'm in the UK and in the process of fitting a borgerson power steering kit to my 68 coronet station wagon. It was a 318 auto column change, im putting a mild street /strip 440 and and converting to a floor shifter. Ive stripped and rebuilt the steering column column and put the borgerson steering box in place. The instructions say i need to cut the steering shaft. Am I missing something As I found once removing the pin at the bottom of the shaft and offering it all up I don't need to cut the shaft at all ? The steering wheel sits in the right place, all the mounting bolts are in and pinched up. Has anybody else not had to cut the shaft ? Hoping you can help before i go ahead and drill for the pins.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Martyn

Thanks Dan for your fast response, im fitting the borgerson coupler that came with the kit. Just wondering if I've landed lucky and don't need to cut the shaft, or i have messed up !! Will give him a call tomorrow
Thanks again

It is my understanding that you have to cut/shorten if you are going from a manual steering box to a power box.

Hi Darter6, thanks for your response,
So you recon if the vehicle is already a power assisted box previously it shouldn't need cutting?

That's what I understand. I still would check with Peter Bergman at Bergman Auto Craft. He is a member here and sales the Borgeson boxes and kits.

Talk to Peter about the fittings you'll need too.
