Hey guys , anyone ever had a rear brake drum rub against the backing plate only in one area , and what was your fix ? 11x2.5 brakes rub spot is 4” left side of center on passenger side , changed axle no deference! What as ye !

Is the backing plate bent in a little bit in that spot? If so, tap it out with a hammer.

Could be a bent backing plate. Does it stop smooth? Or pulsate? If It has smooth braking action you can grind the edge off the drum and drive on.

You could remove drum and put a straight edge across axle face. Then measure to lip on backing plate. It would take a serious blow to bend a BP. Been chasing a swishing sound, backed off rear brakes checked BP's nada.

Did you check to see if the drum is bent? or swap the drums side to side see if it still rubs. or is there a high spot on the drum its hitting?

You can just remove and rotate the drum two or three studs from its current position. If it rubs in the same spot it's probably the backing plate. New spot it's the drum, assuming the axle is not bent.
