I'm redoing the front brake lines and hoses on my 69 Super Bee. Upgrading to SS brake lines, but with rubber brake hoses (as I can't find SS hoses for my Super Bee).

The brake hoses I took off the car look like this:

The replacement hoses I got from Year One don't have the brass block with the hole on the one end. My question is: what kind of brake hoses are these current hoses with the brass block? And how do I find replacement hoses like these?

The Year One hoses look like this:

If I want to use these hoses instead, how do I get these to work with my current calipers? Do I need some sort of male attachment threaded in the caliper to accept these hoses?

What calipers do you have?

These Year One OEM calipers for 70-72 B bodies. However, these were replacement calipers I put on the car after I got the car. Those brake hoses came with the car, and the calipers I replaced sure looked the same as the YO ones. Might the brake hoses have been custom made with that banjo fitting on the end?

You either use a ported center bolt or Thread in. Go to your local Auto store, with some help you can get these for 7.00 each. You can also go to Rock Auto. If you need stainless Flex Lines then Inline Tube will have everything.

I'm assuming the "ported center bolt" or the "thread in" is what I need for the caliper so the YO brake hoses will work instead of the banjo fitting?

That yearone hose picture is a rear brake hose, body to axle

No, they are the front brake lines. Inline Tube has a similar picture of this front disc brake hose.

This is the rear brake line.

Show me a pic of YOUR calipers, I ant to see where the brake hose goes in. The ones you posted are pin type, and they should take the same hose as the slider. Those use a 7/16 banjo bolt with a copper crush washer on either side of the brake hose. You can get them in ss braided, along with the rear hose. I got mine from hotrodusa.com for a really good price.

Ok, here's the calipers. And where did you get your brake lines? Hotrodusa.com does not come up when I search for it.

Sorry about that, hotrodsusa.com is the correct address. I got my hoses from them.

Still nothing with that website. Are they still in business? Looks like they closed shop. Did you get the hoses recently?

Looks like they are no longer in business. Doesn't matter, just get lines for a 74 dart in braided stainless.

The hose with the long steel part with male threads screws into the FRONT caliper.

Don't know if this will help or not, since my car was a bit of a hodge-podge when I got it, and I've been sorting it out piece by piece. The calipers you're using look to match up with '72 satty (and I'm sure other cars as well) stock calipers and look to fit a banjo-bolt brake hose, as do mine

I ended up sourcing banjo-bolt brake hoses from O'Reilly locally, but ended up cross-referencing them with the hoses for a '73 satty with disc brakes. The O'Reilly hoses came with the proper crush washers for each side, so all that was left was the banjo bolts themselves.

I ended up using a Dorman product, but I don't have the part number handy. it was just a 7/16" banjo bolt. I'm not thrilled with the fluid clearance on this aftermarket part, but don't think it's causing any problems (I'm chasing plenty of hydraulic mismatch in my car anyway).

Granted, you're looking for SS hoses, and I went with stock-type rubber hoses, but hopefully the fitment info helps you find the right thing.

As far as the hardlines, I went with standard steel 3/16" brake line, and am bending/flaring them myself. YMMV

I don't know how relevant this is to your '66, but maybe it will help somewhat.

Thanks for the good info, but the car is a '69. I called up Inline Tube, and they are making me up stainless steel hoses with the banjo fitting on the one end. I already have the 7/16 banjo bolt and crush washers from the original lines; just needed new hoses.

I thought 69 used dual piston calipers and 70 went to single piston.
my 70 has the single piston like yours and uses a thread in line (no banjo).

truthfully, I've got no idea what is OEM on my '69 Bee. All I know is the brake hoses/calipers are set up for a banjo fitting and I prefer to leave it that way since I know that is working. However, based on all the supposed OEM hoses I'm seeing, they should use a thread in line as you say and not a banjo fitting.

Ok, so I have more problems with these stupid brakes. Everything was going great until I tried connecting the front hard lines to the proportioning valve. I need this type of adapter and can't seem to find one.

3/16 inverted female to a 1/4 inverted male

The hard line has the 3/16 inverted male while the proportioning valve is made for a 1/4 inverted male.

Ok, the brake lines/hoses are finally done.

And new RamMan master cylinder to replace that leaking one. Sort wish I would have painted the cylinder and booster black, but oh well, its a driver, not a museum piece.

Thanks Zack (5.7hemi) for all the help with these brakes!!
