brake lines cleaning or blowing out

this 64 fury has become quite a challenge. i have ordered a puller off of ebay for $85 with no tax and free shipping. Not a bad price, compared to most. Last night we replaced the master cylinder(single piston) and tried to get pressure so we could at least move car to and easier area to work. Stone and sludge is not easy to work in and unsafe! We did get some fluid at the far left wheel cylinder, nothing at the right cylinder. Since we cannot get drums off at present, do they make anything that you can blow our the brake lines? all bleeders and lines have been very easy to loosen! I got this car at a very good price and now i know why!.....lol......"My motto is that every problem has a solution!" It has served me well for 40+ years. Any answers greatly appreciated!

You can get blow gun attachments with a short metal extension from places like Harbor Freight for about $3.00. You can just hold it tight to the lines you are trying to blow through or add a small length of rubber tubing. Your line may be collapsed somewhere as well. At the very least replace your flex lines with new ones. One to each front wheel and one over the diff.

Having lost my brakes before due to crappy "vintage" lines, I almost always replace all of my brake lines on cars I get that exceed 35 years. It's piece of mind and you get really good at doing double flares.

I am going to bet on the flex lines. Over the years, the rubber/liner expands and will do odd things, such as allow fluid to flow one way, towards the wheel cylinder and feels like the brakes are locked -- they are! I would also agree that re-plumbing the car should be one of the first parts of the overall restoration. Good luck and keep up the work.

I've learned that but the time you play around trying to find that one problem line,shoe,etc. your better off to get it ALL! M/C,W/C,power booster,lines,shoes brand new.Saves time,aggrevation,and most importantly-whoa factor.
 
it is pretty common for the metal lines to rust internally on a car that has sat for a long time.once you disconnect at both ends,and can blow air through,make sure to run some brake clean through and see what comes out.internal rust can contaminate all your new parts.
