This is my 64 Dodge 2 dr. hdtp. I was 18 years old in 1964. I used to lust for a Dodge or Plymouth B body and Mopar was doing great things at that time. 426 HEMI WOW!!
About 2008, I wanted to build a car just like what I would have done in the mid 60's. I searched locally for a Plymouth or Dodge that did not have serious rust issues. I found this Dodge only about 125 miles from home. It came from Southern Calif. and still had its black plates. No engine, trans. or interior. Lots of work to do but affordable for someone on a tight budget. We brought it home Winter of 2008. I didn't get started till the next Fall. It has been a long time project due to finances and me having very low vision.
Brutus is now in the paint shop and will be painted as soon as the weather warms up a little. So, I thought I would start the build thread here. I will be adding to it from time to time. Thanks for looking.................MO

Very nice. Way better than what I started with. What are going to use for the drive train?

Driveline is already in, just don't have the pics up yet. It is a 413 police pursuit similar engine, A833 4 speed with Centerforce dual friction clutch, Hurst bench seat shifter, 742 differential with sure grip and 3:55 gears. Big finned drum brakes. All rebuilt....thanks.................................MO

IMG_2278.JPGDodge 005.jpgDodge 008.jpgDodge 009.jpgDodge 012.jpgDodge 014.jpgA few more pics here. I didn't have to replace the floor-pans, but did have to patch a few places. The aftermarket 4 speed hump fit very well. Someone had butchered the floor brace and tranny cross member-mount. I replaced that with a good one from a parts car. The frame connectors took a little bit to install, but I don't think there could be any stronger...................MO

Nice work, Steve!

Nice project you got there! looks like a solid car with little/no rust. I wasn't that long ago when I was at that stage. Good luck keep us posted and keep chipping away!

Hey Mo! cool story, great car find- I really like the front end you installed.

Show us some pics of that drive train! :headbang:

Keep up the good work.

Gonna be cool.Love the the cars, especially old drag cars.

Looks good so far ! Keep picking at her as thats what I do on a tight budget !!

Cool car, I'm a bit younger but always drooled over the old Mopars as well and like you finally got the one I wanted. "413" that's one I'm not really familiar with, is it a RB or BB? Sounds like fun "enjoy"

wow nice thanks for sharing :headbang:

Tall Deck RB, small 4.18 bore. I used to hear that you could bore them to stock426 wedge bore of 4.25. Nice build and nice engine.

Great project! I hope the weather works out so you can get some color on it! Thanks for sharing..

Thanks all for the nice comments. When a person does all this work and spends all that money, they really appreciate compliments. The weather here has finally warmed up --been an abnormally long Winter. My painter says all the block sanding is done and ready to paint when it warms up. Hopefully this week. The top is already painted. Next will be getting my exhaust installed-after fixing a little tranny leak and putting the rear bumper on. More pics later..................MO

Dash assembly

I am trying a little experiment. Painted the inside of the dash and upper firewall white. Thinking that under-dash wiring and components will be easier to see.
The dash plastic has had the "spray chrome" treatment and the we painted in the argent silver. The guages were taken out, cleaned, needles painted flouresent orange, and all plastic lenses polished.
Pics of the engine and drive-line later.....................................MO100_4353.JPG100_4357.JPG100_4393.JPG100_4386.JPGDodge 020.jpgIMG_3677.JPGDodge 015.jpg
