...and this is the problem we have in our nation right now.
If I did something like that, my dad (love ya, pops!) would have smacked the CRAP outta me. Not a beating, not abuse, just one. good. shot. to put an exclamation point on the message.
And, I wouldn't do it again. Whatever "it" was.
THAT, is what's missing in today's parenting - deterrent. Consequence. Not that we need to "beat" our children...but we need to ....explain to them, in no uncertain terms, the difference between acceptable and unacceptable.
