Can’t believe it’s mine.

Good info & thank you for the pictures. There is currently a hole in my trunk where they had a fuel cell at one point. Last owner wanted an oem style tank but had issues getting it installed, he used a mechanic that i don’t think was capable of fab work. The filler neck is pretty much horizontal & because of this you cant fill the tank gas just spills out lol.. so I was going to see if I can hang it properly, lower & correct angle. Or just stick another fuel cell in the hole and call it good. I haven’t even looked at this “issue” yet but I’m not overly concerned about it

Looking at your picture, plus looking on Tank's site, you're still a rear fill like me. For sure, try to rehang it. My reason for what I did was with the relocation of springs, no room for exhaust. It was already too close to the old tank and with springs being moved, no way.

I haven’t even looked at the rear springs but I bet they’re moved as well. Would explain the cherry bombs and dump downs. I’d prefer dual exhaust out the back but you’re right I’d probably have to do a fuel cell in the trunk to accommodate that.

Currently yes the tank is rear fill behind the license plate. But the fuel neck is horizontal when I think it should be angled up.. guy said he couldn’t fill the tank all the way up it sills out.

I wouldn’t mind a fuel cell in the trunk, I don’t really need the storage & would be easier to fill (I’m a tall guy lol)

I'm kind of digging the yellow on the car now. I think I would paint the engine bay body color and call it a day. There are a lot of purple cars out there already.....

I would rethink putting anyone in a seat with a rollbar in front of them high speed impacts will not be absorbed by foam. If you aren't racing it, just cut the darn thing out. I am an overprotective dad.
Car looks great, seems like a really good deal.

I really do appreciate the concerns! Kids still have car seats with 5 point harnesses, and there would be absolutely no highway driving with them either.. Also, there is no middle bar in front of where they would be sitting, I know exactly what you’re describing. The main loop only has 2 diagonal bars that run forward up driver and passenger side, and then 4 bars that run to the trunk

Around 8pm Wednesday night I was scrolling Facebook when I came across a rather vague post listing this car for sale. Couple pictures & an 18k price tag. I saw in the comments multiple people asking location & the seller wrote “upstate NY” if you don’t know, upstate NY is huge. Out of curiosity I messaged him to find out he wasn’t too far from me, less than 5 hour drive. We ended up speaking on the phone that night..

Next think I know I’m waking up at 5am the next morning to be at this guys house by 10am. Ended up getting there closer to 12 after having a difficult time finding a uhaul trailer & having to drive out of the way to find a bank. GPS said I was 2 minutes away, I come around the corner of the interstate and bam- off to the side I see this car sitting in the guy’s yard. My excitement peaked to say the least. The car itself is an older build, not perfect by any means, but it’s perfect for me.

The seller was an amazing guy, he threw in a ton of new parts like a full QA1 front suspension kit (k member, control arms, shocks etc). It was the fastest I’ve ever said: yes here’s your full asking price. Lol. I ended up getting home around 6pm, exhausted, but still consider it to be the best day ever! I owe it all to my incredible wife who on a moments notice said “yes go do it “ & watched all 3 of our kids (one being a newborn) for the day AND let me drain our savings account. I’ll get the money back, but this was a deal of the decade for me & I couldn’t pass it up.

Okay now about the car: 1970 Coronet. Originally appears to have been gold with black vinyl top, 318 automatic. Boy has she been changed for the better. 440, 727, Dana 60, mini tubs, 8 point cage, 345/55s, 4 wheel wilwood disc brakes.

My plans? First off, the car is getting a new universal wiring kit front to back. This will get the car running again (ran recently until previous owner started to redo wiring). The 727 has to come out because I have a good a833 sitting on the work bench I just know it’s meant to go in this car. Gas tank needs attention, with the mini tubs the builder used a fuel cell, and the previous owner tried to put a stock tank in but couldn’t get the tank installed correctly. I’ll figure that out shouldn’t be an issue. Anyways after that, I need to find a rear seat & heavily modify it to fit around the roll cage so I can get 2 car seats back there for the kids. Roll cage will have foam to protect the kids. Then the car will just be enjoyed. Minor body work and rust repair here and there, and eventually car will be painted plum crazy. Seller gave me a different style hood scoop that I might put on. I also have a sniper efi and a fitech efi kit sitting on a shelf, maybe I’ll try one of those one day.
