How would I convert my big block 727 non-lock to a lock-up? Replace all internals from a small block 727? What type of valve body and converter to use?

May I ask why you would do this?

How much horse do you intend to put through the converter clutch

More power to the wheels

It does'nt work like that. You need the input shaft and many other things, but it will kick out if you put any power to it..... its for fuel economy only.

Plus it allows the transmission to run a little cooler.

Have a better torque convertor made that's tight. A good shop will give you what you want.

I have converted a lockup 727 to non lock up. All you save is the case and the back planetary.
I Would never consider going the other way. You would need a donor tranny and the back planetary has to Match up with your parts or all you would save is the case.

Easy, you need a non lock up 71 or newer reaction shaft support (or complete pump), matching year input shaft , non lock up valve body. Depending on the input shaft you use you may need a #3 thrust washer. There are 2 different styles.

The lockup 727 case was changed to make room for the lockup module on the valve body.

Some say that you can use the electric lockup valve body from a 904 to convert a non-lockup 727 to lockup plus the other parts mentioned above.

To make a lockup converter with with a non lockup torqueflite it's called a Clutchflite.:D
