Can I install these splash shields again?

It looks like they are riveted in and I’m feeling allot of rust in that frame rail.

Do you know if those came on a 66? I know my 66 doesn’t have them but if it’s supposed to I wanna find some.
 
I use large headed aluminum pop rivets when reinstalling thise shields. No problem reusing them.

66's are steel. I was replicating them for sale, but until things change I'm not fabbing any to ship South.

I think I can help you with those. Mine is a 67 but I think somehow I ended up with a set of 66. Would need to find them. If interested PM me. I have a box full of the 67.
 
Half of 1967 model year used metal also.

I have A January 67 car with metal, and saw many fall 66 built 67's with metal.
I have a May of 67 with plastic.

It feels tight and firm, but I’m sure there’s a gotta be some play with weight on them. Gonna replace with poly bushings and greasable pins.

They look great. How did you get the head of the bolts to stay and tighten in the frame? I did not see any access holes.
pre 66 and many forward used self tapping screws pending what they had in the bin on the line. My 69 Bee had rivets on the passenger side and self tappers on the drivers from the factory! I believe Justin's 69 GTX was that way as well.

Funny you should mention that :thumbsup: that's exactly what I was thinking about doing. I will try some stainless-steel self-tappers, that way in another 58 years I won't have to worry about cutting the rivets again.

Interesting, I had both a 67 Coronet HT and and convert, and they were plastic.

Dang those metal ones could put quite a scratch into you while working under the car.
