I'm fitting headers to my 340 Roadrunner (1973) and it looks like I need a bit more clearance. Can I wedge the engine mounts with a spacer?
It would be easier with the old type biscuit mounts but I have the later mounts and can't see an obvious way of spacing them.

If you are talking about permanently raising the motor by using spacers I would say "it depends". If you need a little, say 1/8" -1/4", no problem. If you need more, then you may run into problems like shroud/fan clearance, driveshaft angle problems, distributor clearance, etc. Pictures of the interference area would help. I'm all for contacting a manufacturer first if there is a problem and getting their take on it. I would have a problem having to modify the header or car if the application is right but they don't fit. You pay a lot of money for the quality of TTIs and there is no reason to have to break out a hammer or hot wrench. BTW, thin spacers are no problem to fabricate from aluminum.

Dave, I'm only talking about a little and may not yet be required. Just thinking ahead. Looking at the bracket I can see how adding washers/spacers could work.
If it were the old biscuit type, it could be spaced, but not sure about these later type mounts.

Hey UK, I have a 73 RR 340 with TTI headers, if you want, PM me, mine fit well, but were a pain in the *** to install, and unfortunately, I scratched the drivers side, its more difficult because of the clearance around the steering shaft, gearbox, etc. Also, if you are trying to install with factory large starter, its not gonna work real well. I used a mini starter, had to have custom trans cooler lines made and also had to reverse and custom make a different shift lever, that is if you have a 727.

Wow, sounds tight, thanks for the offer. I'm half way thru at the moment and will know better over the weekend how the fit is.
I have removed and will be replaced the shifter linkage where the headers will pass through. I also have a mini starter which I've removed.
Did you have to break the steering linkage to get it all to fit as per the instructions? It almost looks that if I get the front of the car high enough I can maybe squeeze the headers through.

Sounds like you are on the right track, and yes, I lifted the car and did the headers from underneath. I did not break the steering linkage, so you might have an easier time if you do that!

Ok thanks. Reckon I'll bash away at it all tomorrow and see how it goes. Hopefully it will all line up, would certainly compete my 340 build. Guess I should post that up at some point. Cheers!
