Let's back up to tractors for just a bit-

Most don't even have "frames".

Running gear, seat and fenders are bolted through or hanging off of engine, transmission, or rear axle housing.

Want a rough ride! Get on a 1948 D John Deere and harrow the last years stubble field because the straw couldn’t get picked up before snow. 4.5 miles an hour, very short wheel base. Dad would say, it would shake your back teeth out.
I was 13 when I got to harrow summer fallow that was still quite rough.

I'd have to say the first edition Ford Transits . They were made in Turkey ,featuring the most basic of gauges . Absolutely no style ,pure function. Contractors and parts suppliers bought enough that other companies followed suit not long after .

This car! It has zero options, manual drum brakes and manual steering. No radio, no stripes or engine callout decals, no creature comforts, made specifically to go fast and scare children.

Yep. Brakes failed, rolled down a hill backwards into a pool, as the telephone truck that went into the pool earlier was being lifted out. (At least, that's the way I remembered it!)
I fell out of my chair in the theater!
Edit: I got it backwards it seems: the 2cv was a pool truck, brakes failed, went into the pool. Then the 3-wheel phone truck went backwards into the pool, while the 2cv was being pulled out . A riot!
