I wish you luck with your track, I know how it feels to loose a few great tracks, we have lost a ton of them here in Northern & Southern Calif., some just recently, my personal worst was when they shut down Fremont/Baylands Raceway when I was younger... It really freaken sucks

Capitol will re-open under new management on Friday April the 13 for test & tune and bracket racing on Saturday the 14th..

You should start a association with all of your local guys that attend the track and get political so YOU don't have to worry about losing the track...

one thing i have learned over the past 20 years and fighting for the 4 lost tracks we had...... HAD here, is that the motorsports community doesn't fight for itself....

Except for the fight for bridgehampton, no one did anything to save any of the dragstrips now gone here or other tracks...

It would be in your best interest when capitol re-opens you walk around get email addresses and start a web site enter those contacts and PAY close attention to local civic associations and politics and atleast you'll be ready to KEEP your track... and not lose it....

This is coming from a area that once had 40 operating facilities in less than a 100 mile radius and where motorsports were born here in the U.S. thanks to the Vanderbilt family... keep that in mind when you think nothing needs to be done.

The fight to get a new facility is far far worse than keeping an existing one.

68sportsatelliteragtop... I love your old tow set up back then, a Maveric flat towing with a towbar non the less a Barracuda, that's too funny...

That shows you how close to the track I lived at the time. Flat towing got real old once the slicks came into play. After a couple seasons with the six banger Maverick, I moved on to this rig....

We lost a track in N W Indiana back in 1984 because of houses being built and to much noise. People don't get it, The track was there when they bought the house. the political B#ll Sh#t is like somebody came in during the night and put in a dragstrip. The city of Schererville tried to close the circle track here as well and they lost that battle for now. The track is still open. The old tracks should be grandfathered in and just leave them the hell alone.

I like that

I like that transporter rig there, hey I flat towed a ton of cars too, even with rented tow bars or little dolly's, when I was young & dumb too, always took the rear of the drive shaft off & never with slicks, they would be in the back of my 66 or 76 Power Wagon with the tools etc., when I bought my 1st trailer way back in 1979, I thought "why did I ever flat tow anything ??", my Step Dad would give me his trailer to use, when he wasn't racing, but that was not very often... I did all kinds of odd jobs while going to school, to buy my 1st trailer, haven't looked back since...

I'm glad to here this because I know the street racing would get a lot worse than it already is.back wen I street raced down there things weren't as bad traffic wise in the late 70s early 80s as know..........Artie

I never flat towed on slicks either. At the time I didn't have a suitable tow vehicle so the truck took car of a tow car and trailer. After a couple seasons w/ the truck, I got my tow car and a trailer.....

They are going to reopen under new ownership. I was glad to read that the other day.
I rolled my 66 Dart you se here at Capital in 1982. Rolled it about 6 times they tell me as a balljoint let go in the traps at about 113 mph. It ran 11.90's @ 113 best. I had alot of good races at Capital so I was glad to hear it will reopen. :hello2: Ron

This is my son and his Dart at Capital on a muscle car race put on by a Corvette club. But dont worry as he spanked that Z06 11.68 to 12.31. He has run 11.4's in his Dart and it has a .030 over 400 (406) in it. I have been to the NSS muscle car race the last 3 years in Oct that Capital has. Ron
