Greetings polywideblock! I bought a roller 1962 Corvette 4-speed (minus motor) for $3,200 in 1974. I put in a fresh 350 4-bolt main 4-bbl and enjoyed the roughest riding car I've ever driven.
I sold it 6 months later for $4,000 to buy a 1970 4-speed Corvette that needed its 3rd motor (five years old and needed a 3rd motor!). It originally had a 350 that blew up. I bought it knowing it had a smoking 1966 327. I pulled the 327 and put in a fresh 350 4-bolt main 4-bbl. I had to continually chase vacuum leaks and electrical problems the entire time I owned the car. The ride of the '70 was much softer and more fun to drive than the '62.
I sold the '70 for $4,500 after owning it for a year. 6 weeks after I sold it, the new owner approached me accusing me of knowing the left rear half-shaft support bearing was going to fail and eject the half-shaft & wheel assembly from the car. Man, it really messed up the left rear corner of the car. I honestly had no idea any thing in the drive line was bad when I sold it.
Needless to say, I'm not that bright, but I am a fast learner. These two cars were my first and last Chevrolets I've ever owned.
