Ive been on all sides on this issue in my 45+ years old being involved in shows. I have entered my original 71 Challenger shaker convertible, that I drive to shows, which has taken many awards which awards I donated to various causes. I remove the registration card/ number so it can't be voted for. I have had club members all vote for a friend's car and have taken complaints about it as club president. I have been a judge and taken complaints from car owners and explained why I judged like I did. I just like to go to drive my car and see friends and make new ones. I have a 2015 Challenger shaker and drive it to shows and leave before awards time. Last year at a show, no one would judge the e-bodies so I was pressured into it. I didn't have my e-body there. There were two hemi Cudas there, a 70 and a 71. I judged the 70 to be a better example. The restorer and the owner of the 2nd place car both asked me why they got 2nd place. They wanted to know what was not correct. I explained what was not correct. The 1st place owner asked if there was anything he could do to improve his car. I pointed out a few items. I explained to the club president what I found. He checked the cars and agreed. I then promptly left the show. All good in my book.
