Hey guys,I was goofing around with my 74 Charger (1970 440 hp) today. I changed the distributor and added new plugs and I also used a new "hot" coil to get it running well enough to move around when needed.Any way I just wanted to know what would cause the car to need 10 pumps of the fuel pedal then holding the pedal to the floor and cranking the motor over for about 3 seconds to start it? I get a good fuel shot each time the pedal is pumped.Once it's running it runs well and has loads of power. It has an electric choke and it seems to work fine.

Sorry I forgot to see what carb is on it so here is a pic lol.

Carb is getting flooded. Check the neddle and seat or maybe you are pumping it to much. I had a carb that the needle and seat got dirt in it and it would flood on start up but then ran fine.

Anyone else?

I know it sounds like a flooded carb but It will not start any other way lol
I started out with 1-2 pumps then cranking it over but it won't start no matter how long I crank it.So I worked my way up 3-4 then 5-6 all the way up to 10 pumps and it starts this way every time haha.

Sounds like the problem I've been having with the Demon 750 on my RR. No cure here yet, ready for a new carb. Brand-new carb, tore it apart twice, still no joy.

I cleaned out the carb with some cleaner and it's ok now starts with 2 pumps :)

Hope it will stay that way for ya but honestly, you may want to think of a carb surgery fixer upper kit on a shelf just in case. Good luck,, at least its ah-runnin!!!

I just needed it to run for now lol were adding a 20x40 on to the 40x60 shop and the car was in the way.Thank's for the input guy's :)
