Carlisle Tent Activities 2025 - Volunteers Needed!

Not at home anyway.
None on file with any company I worked for either.
See, men like us don’t wimp out and report minor injuries. YOU know what I mean because we are of that generation.
We scrape off the blood and get back to work.
My rule is - if you get hurt at work....it really happened at home....otherwise the paperwork is horrendous.

I’ll have some pictures of fellow FBBO members tomorrow but for now…. Me and The Dulcich:

That dude is TALL. I’m 5’10 so Steve must be 6’4 at least.

maybe we could set up a collection fund, where members could donate (voluntarily) to the out of pocket costs up front to ease the pain.

10, 20, 50...... whatever is comfortable; it all helps

if anyone has suggestions or ideas on how to do this, please chime in. I wouldn't want anyone to think their donation winds up in someone's pocket....

I'd be more than happy to collect via paypal; so Hawk (or Pete) isn't in any sort of awkward position, it doesn't have to be me, there may be a better way, just thinking out loud....... donations could remain anonymous, or not ...... I could run a transparent tally, and update it frequently

I'm gonna send Hawk 100 to get the ball rolling, and probably another 100 to Pete in a couple weeks (cash flow) as cash is King....... don't be shy, feel free to suggest, or reach out privately..... time is short. and the FBBO tent is quite worthy; not just for Saturday lunch; but serves as a "base" for members to sit down, rest, and get out of the sun all weekend

suggestions are more than welcome, but somebody has to do it.......Thanks
i can kick in some green backs.... just tell me how.

I was working on a us navy contract job, had a little scrape on my arm, the safety office freaked out and said your bleeding. I said where, she said right there on your arm, do you want to make a report. I wiped it off on my my shirt, said I'm not bleeding. And went back to work.

I went up in the morning and caught up with a couple FBBOs. Good seeing friends again!

Stopped by the "Roach". Looks better in person. Wow that car is flawless!

@Richard Cranium take care of those water spots on the inner fenders before the judges come around tomorrow. The rest is just fabulous

I left at 12:00 to go to South Mountain Dragway. Hot, man was it hot! Made a few passes. Lit the red in first round eliminations. Met a few good guys, had some fun, that's what it's all about.

Feels good to be home in the AC! I didn't break anything so I'll be back at the show tomorrow morning.

I'm jealous that you guys got to talk to Dulcich, but that's the way it goes. Have fun tomorrow at lunch.

Mark’s car is a clean machine.

What I liked about it is that it looks clean enough to have been an original build. By that, I mean that it looks like it could have been built that way from the factory. The routing of the accessories is done in a tidy manner. I’ve seen late model Hemi swaps in classics that look like you’d see on Roadkill and this is not that.
The white is an excellent offset to the Plum Crazy color. I can only imagine the smoky burnouts this could do with the 392 too.
These Tremec TKX transmissions are supposed to handle high rpm up shifts better than the first TKO series that I have. The car looks great but it will also perform just as well.

My friend Dave and I had a great time at the Fbbo tent today! I hung out with the Marx Brothers, aka Cranium and Dubb,as well as Hawk and the crew, who did an amazing job with the food etc! I met Greg and his wife, aka Kern Dog,and Dennis H who traveled all the way across the country to attend the show. Always great to put faces to screen names. Sad that it's over for another year, but looking forward to another year of fun tent activities in 2026!

Who smuggled that umbrella ?

This years event was better than last year. Thanks to Hawk, Pistol Pete, and Barry. It was great talking with with every one I met last year. We met many more this year. Too many names To list here. But thanks to all. You made me and my wife feel very welcomed. We had such a good time we spent the entire day at the FBBO tent.

Mucho thanks to the members that donated items for the raffle. I admit, I wasn’t aware that this was going to happen. I knew of the feast and was really impressed with the food. I mean yeah, you expect to see weenies and burgers at a bar b que but this Pistol Pete guy and his wife had Ribs, meatballs , some Gucci level sausages, pasta salad and other stuff that you might expect at some fancy Gordon Ramsay shindig. I felt that I should have been wearing fancy clothes for the event.
Thanks to all the wives of FBBO members for being supportive if not at least tolerant of our interests in the hobby. Many of us know how frustrating it is to deal with a nagging scallywag at home so to those sweet and loving women in our lives that allow us men to follow this passion, you have our undying love and gratitude.

The tent served as a home base/docking station for many of us. We’d wander out to look at cars or the swap meet, get dizzy or sweaty then meander back to rest for a bit… then venture out again. This was unlike any other show that I have been.
One dude this afternoon mentioned attending the nationals in 1979 or 1980.

I can’t imagine what it must have been that long ago!
I am still boggled at the volume of cars and parts at the event. I haven’t seen 15 Demons or 23 Dusters at a show before. I love the A body stuff. I love seeing the DeSoto and Imperials too. I passed by the trucks and saw maybe 10 SRT-10 trucks.
I kept bumping into FBBO members that were extremely friendly! One guy I’d been chatting with off and on for maybe an hour introduced himself and his screen name but I wasn’t clear on who he was. We bantered back and forth when it suddenly became clear who he was. ( @skicker ) still, no punch to the face.
Hawk ended our visit with a suggestion to consider DRIVING cross country with some fellow buddies next year. Holy crap, what an interesting challenge. 2500 + miles each way from California to Pennsylvania and back? I’d need a bit of a support system of California buddies like @1 Wild R/T @CoronetDarter , @Dennis H, @68 Sport Satellite And a few more! Can this car make it?

IMG_1047.jpeg

I’ve driven thousands of miles locally with few failures. How about this ratty one?

To rough around the edges for long distance travel ?
