I have this nos carb for my 318 had for 4 years and about 5000 miles on it the last two years I need to pump it at least 12 times to start it after it sits for a week hot starts right up. The fuel filter was changed 5 years ago, engine surges a bit while cruising around 2200 rpm. Choke works fine. The engine hesitates from start to about 40mph all the time. Any thoughts? I am now tired of the performance, and need to fix it. Thanks

I was thinkng it could be that, the cheapest thing to do is change the filter which I will do today, more likely it will be the carb and if so I will send out to have it rebuilt with NATIONAL CARB in Fl. They will rebuild it to run on modern fuel.

Most likely nothing wrong with your carb. The gas is evaporating after 2 weeks. Fill the float bowl through the bowl vent and Put a little gas down the carb after it sits for 2 weeks. It will start just fine.

Do you have ethanol free gasoline available in your area, it really helps this problem and others. Slightly more power, better mileage, cooler operating temps. The ethanol leans the fuel mix and if you are on the edge of lean it puts it over that edge.

Thanks I did adjust the linkage for the accelerator pump it was a little too low the manual tells you to set at.200 of an inch just under 1/4 it's better now test drove it made a difference. One more time if it improves then I am good. Tomorrow or the next I will driver her again. Thanks
